I recently finished my 501 foot chess scarf!

Be part of my epic journey!

THIS IS NORTH AMERICA'S SECOND LONGEST CROCHET SCARF!!
After 4 1/2 years of crocheting and 237 Red Heart yarn balls later, I am finally finished my 501 foot chess scarf. I started this scarf on November 19, 2019. The primary colors of the scarf is black and white to represent the game of chess. I made this scarf to inspire others to play chess and to spread positive energy. The scarf broke the initial Guinness Book of World Records of the longest crochet scarf by an individual, which is about 492.13 feet long.

Here are fun facts about the scarf:
1) The 100th yarn ball is primary pink and blue in color because pink is my color.
2) Yarn ball 200 and yarn ball 201 are blue because the ocean is blue. I want people to take care of the ocean!
3) The last yarn balls of the scarf, #236 and #237 are green. The green color represents the earth and the environment. I want people to take care of the environment.
4)All of the other yarn balls are black and white, which represents the game of chess. As a well established chess teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area, I created this scarf to inspire others to play chess. Chess is such a great game!
5) All yarn balls are Yarnspiration's Red Heart yarn. I estimate that 3/4 of the yarn balls are Red Heart Soft yarn. Eventually, my local craft store stopped selling Red Heart Soft Yarn, so I chose to use Red Heart Super Saver yarn for the rest of the scarf.
6) I only used the single crochet stitch for the entire scarf. This is actually the only stitch that I know how to do.
7) The scarf weighs at least 75 pounds. I still need to do the math for the actual weight.
8) The last time I actually rolled out the entire scarf was in November 2021. At that time, the scarf was about 250 feet long.
9) I tried to work on the scarf every day. Some days I wasn't able to since I was so busy or I was out of town.
10) The nickname for the scarf is "Snakey" because snakes are long, just like the scarf.
11) The average width of the scarf is about 9 inches.
12) While I was working on the scarf, I watched a lot of videos and movies. About two years ago, I learned how to play poker as a complete beginner. I also played online poker while working on the scarf. On a side note, poker is a male-dominated game, just like chess. I encourage other females to play poker.
13) It took me about 6-8 hours to complete one foot.
14) I rounded each yarn ball to 1/2 a foot. Because of that, Snakey is probably a little over 501 feet long. Some yarn balls gave me about 41 inches of scarf, which is one inch less than 3.5 feet. Therefore, I considered 41 inches to be 3 feet.
15) I did time lapsed videos crocheting the ENTIRE scarf. I also did regular video when I transfered a new yarn ball.
16) I used at least 35 miles of yarn to create the scarf!

BE PART OF MY EPIC JOURNEY. My dream is to display the scarf in a public place, such as a major airport or a museum. Please contact me if you can help me achieve this dream! THANKS IN ADVANCE!
